[Poetry] Snow Day

Cozy Winter Reading

White hush descends, a world in cotton cloaked,
Snow blankets boughs where sparrows once awoke.
Sun peeks, a shy eye through the frosted pane,
A playground formed where puddles used to reign.

The kitten, fur in flurries of its own,
Paws, pounces, prints where wind has gently blown.
Each soft step leaves a whisper on the white,
A fleeting dance in morning's silver light.

Inside, the hearth a drowsy ember glows,
Tea kettle sings a song the north wind knows.
Mug cradled close, I watch the snowflakes fall,
And weave a world where winter holds us all.

The kitten snuggles, purring on my knee,
A feathered ball of warmth and mystery.
In this hushed haven, time begins to bend,
Snow Day's embrace, a story without end.

The hours drift, on whispers borne along,
A lullaby of silence, soft and strong.
No deadlines press, no emails fill the air,
Just kitten dreams and steam that climbs in prayer.

And when the day begins to wane and fade,
And shadows lengthen in the frosty glade,
We'll leave our footprints in the moonlit snow,
A secret dance where only whispers go.

So let the world turn, let the storm clouds break,
For on this Snow Day, hearts and dreams awake.
With kitten close and kettle's gentle hum,
In winter's peace, a haven we become.

IMAGE PROMPT:
Nestled in a plush armchair, a young woman is lost in the pages of a novel, a kitten purring softly by her side. A tea kettle, wreathed in steam, sits on a nearby table, and the room is bathed in the warm, flickering light of a roaring fireplace. A festive Christmas tree stands in the corner, its ornaments catching the light. Through the frosty windowpane, a snowy landscape stretches into the distance, offering a striking contrast to the inviting warmth inside.
